Scoop It!

This week, I explored a new content curation tool called 'Scoop. It!' and here is what I found...

To get started, one simply signs up on the site, and this can be done through Facebook or LinkedIn. Thereafter, you can immediately start curating.

User Interface and Layout. The user interface is very straightforward and simple to use. For the 'Free' account', each person is only allowed one topic page. In my case, I started one for my new hobby -- aerial videography. After having a title, and short description, you can begin to "Scoop" your articles, websites and videos that you want on your page. You simply need to key in the URL of the website you want, and a confirmation page will pop up, showing the website. Here, you can key in your insight or summary. Click "Publish' and you are done! Here is my page, with its first two articles I shared.

Analytics. Unfortunately, the free account does not have analytics. However, if you are willing to upgrade it to 'Pro' or 'Business' then there will be analytics available. And for this week, I managed to get a free Business trial, and so will be able to share some of its functions. Just a simple click on 'Analytics' brings to an overview screen showing you how many views, visitors and reactions you have had in the last day. Clicking on any of these would allow you to go into more detail about that specific metric. Graphs provide a graphical representation and trend. This is useful for those intending to commercialise their pages and need to analyse traffic, and its source.

Possible Integration. The default setting allows all Scoops to be automatically posted on Facebook or LinkedIn. However, Scoop. It! allows for your page to be embedded into your website (if you have one), or into Wordpress. This is particularly useful if you want to generate extra traffic on your page.

Have a try if you have the time, and let me know what you think!

Josh, out

  1. Hello Joshua,

Thank you for this post! I've checked out scoopit and will be using it as well! Without your blog I wouldn't have taken the next step forward to try it!
